Bachelor of Medical Studies / Doctor of Medicine entry requirements:
- Performance in the UCAT ANZ (cognitive subtests only): 20% of your total entry
- Performance in University of Adelaide Medical Interview (offered based on UCAT performance): 40% of your total entry
- ATAR of at least 90: 40% of your total entry
Prerequisites:
One subject from the following:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Mathematical Methods
Assumed Knowledge: a high proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.
The Bachelor degree does not consider subject bonus points. Bonus points for the Bachelor of Medical Studies / Doctor of Medicine degree are available for school-leaver applicants who attended a school classified as an equity school in the year they achieved their ATAR, hold a School Card and/or Health Care Card, or who receives (or whose parents receive) a Centrelink means-tested income support payment.
University of Adelaide Medical Interview questions / assessment criteria
Interview eligibility is dependent on the applicants performance in the cognitive subtests of UCAT ANZ (each subtest has equal weighting). The Situational Judgement section of the UCAT ANZ will only be used as a tie breaker for the lowest rank.
University of Adelaide interviews for the degree comprise of a Multiple Mini Interview format with a minimum of 6 stations of 10 minutes each. In each section an applicant will be interviewed by one interviewer. The interview will assess skills and qualities considered important for undertaking the degree and for use in future professional practice. Interviewers have completed a University of Adelaide training program and they are sourced from the following:
- Employees of the University of Adelaide
- Academic titleholders of the University of Adelaide
- Alumni from the medical program
- Health professionals
- People drawn from the wider community
The interview comprises a series of scenarios and associated questions focusing on an applicant’s personal qualities including:
- Motivation and self-awareness
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Attention to detail and professional behaviour
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Integrity and conscientiousness
- Aptitude for group learning and teamwork
- Compatibility and understanding of the degree and applicable health profession
University of Adelaide interview offers will be issued in one round. Invitations to the interviews will be extended via email on 24 October 2023. Applicants who are not eligible at this stage for an interview will also be notified on this date.
Approximately 600 applicants will be invited to attend an interview.
The interviews will be conducted in late November and throughout December. All Domestic Interviews for the 2024 intake will be conducted by Zoom.
Applicants are encouraged to prepare for this interview.

Ranking process
Applicants will be ranked in consideration for an offer based on their performance in the three components weighted as follows:
- Performance in the UCAT ANZ (cognitive subtests only): 20% of total entry
- Performance in University of Adelaide Medical Interview: 40% of total entry
- ATAR of 90 or above: 40% of total entry

Bachelor of Dental Surgery entry requirements:
Medical Interview (first ranking level), UCAT (second ranking level), ATAR (meets threshold and final ranking level).
Students must achieve an ATAR of 90 or above, an International Baccalaureate score of 34 or above or the interstate/overseas equivalent.
Bonus Points: Bonus points for the Bachelor of Oral Health degree are available through the Universities Equity Scheme (5 points). Applicants to the BOH degree can also receive up to four subject bonus points via the Universities Language, Literacy and Mathematics Bonus Scheme.

Invitations to an interview will be based solely on your performance in UCAT ANZ cognitive subtests, weighted equally. Since 2021 the Situational Judgement subtest will only be used to determine elegibility of candidates in the lower rank with equal total scores across the other 4 sections.
Interviews for the BDS degree will generally comprise of a Multiple Mini Interview format with a minimum of 6 stations of 10 minutes each. In each section an applicant will be interviewed by one interviewer.
There will be one round of medical interviews for the BDS degree in late November through December. Invitations to interviews will be extended via email on 24 October 2023. All Domestic Interviews for the 2024 intake will be conducted by Zoom.
Approximately 300 applicants will be invited to attend an interview.
The interview will focus on your:
- Motivation and self-awareness
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Attention to detail and professional behaviour
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Integrity and conscientiousness
- Aptitude for group learning and teamwork
- Compatibility and understanding of the degree and applicable health profession

Applicants are also encouraged to have discussions with dentists, dental specialists, dental academics; observing a dental practitioner in a variety of practice settings; hands-on experience e.g. dental assistant work.

Bachelor of Oral Health entry requirements:
ATAR, UCAT ANZ, Medical Interview.
Students must achieve an ATAR of 70 or above, an International Baccalaureate score of 25 or above or the interstate/overseas equivalent.
Indigenous applicants may be eligible for entry through the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Access Scheme.
Bonus Points: Bonus points for the Bachelor of Oral Health degree are available through the Universities Equity Scheme (5 points). Applicants to the BOH degree can also receive up to four subject bonus points via the Universities Language, Literacy and Mathematics Bonus Scheme.

There will be one round of interviews for the Bachelor of Oral Health (BOH) degree, held in late November through December. Invitations to interviews will be extended via email on 24 October 2023.
